Environment Week

Mon, 27 May 2024 — Fri, 31 May 2024

schedule All Day Event

This year, a range of activities are being run to help students and staff learn more about the environmental issues the world is facing and what we can do about it.

Summary of events:

  • Inter-house recycling relay in the quad at lunch on Monday.
  • Beeswax wrap making workshop in A4 at lunch on Tuesday.
  • Clothing swap running interval and lunch Wednesday to Friday.
  • Free workshop from Climate Club Aotearoa after school on Wednesday looking at the science behind climate change and how we can make a difference (students can sign up through the form https://t.ly/lz7vc).
  • Tree planting event after school on Thursday at the GDC Ecological Corridor, an area at the back of the field that we are developing into a wonderful habitat for native birds.
  • Weeklong quiz through the daily notices.
  • Enviro Week at Home: a set of sustainable challenges that can be completed outside of school during Enviro Week.

There are plenty of ways to get involved and most of the activities are worth house points, so it would be great to see everyone participate!

How can parents and the community get involved?

  • Clothing swap: Encourage your child to clear out any unloved clothing from their wardrobes and drop them into the Library before Wednesday 29 May.
  • Climate workshop: Encourage your child to RSVP and attend the Climate workshop on Wednesday 29 May from 3:30pm-5:00pm in the Library.

Tree planting for everyone! Join us to remove weeds and plant trees in our beautiful ecological corridor, Thursday 30 May from 3:30pm-5:00pm.
